We invite you and your baby to participate in our studies.

You may have noticed that babies listen to and follow what you say, even before they begin to utter their first words. At our centre, we are interested in finding out how babies listen, how they react and how they learn language.

We are currently studying word-learning in infants (aged 12-24 months) who are exposed to Hindi as their first/mother tongue. This means that the children are hearing Hindi at least 80% of the time from their family and others.

If you have a baby between 12 and 24 months of age (or know someone who does),  and speak Hindi at home, we would like to invite you to participate in our studies and help us in our  research. You can contact us over the phone or by e-mail.

Your participation will involve one short visit to our centre (30-40 minutes). Your baby will remain with you at all times, either seated on your lap while watching some pictures and hearing some sounds or seated by your side. We videotape the baby's reactions to the sounds/pictures and analyze them later.
