Projects Undertaken

Undertaken a number of projects funded by National and International Organisations.  Specifically with respect to Climate Change completed two projects relating to:

  1. Indian Textiles & Clothing Industry and Innovation Policies, for the United Nations University – MERIT, The Netherlands.
  2. Capital Structure, Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Small and Medium Enterprises in India, for the National Entrepreneurship Network of the Wadhwani Foundation, India.
  3. Technology Acquisition and Competitiveness in Indian Industries: Automobiles, Basic Chemicals, Information Technology, Pharmaceuticals & Textiles.
  4. Integrated Technology Utilisation for a Rahata Block in Ahmed Nagar District of Maharashtra, Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India.
  5. Developing Next Generation Tools for Vulnerability Assessment [jointly with D. Parthasarathy], as a part of a larger project coordinated by TIFAC, New Delhi and Institute of Development Studies, Sussex, funded by EU Directorate General Environment.
  6. Spatial pattern of Industrial Growth in India [jointly with Dr. Partha Mukhopadhyaya, Centre for Policy Research, New Delhi].
  7. Climate Change and Vulnerability in the Coastal Zones of India [jointly with Anand Patwardhan, D. Parthasarathy and Arun Inamdar], under the NATCOM for India’s National Communication to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change [UNFCCC], coordinated by the Winrock International, New Delhi.
  8. Socio-Economics Empowerment through IT Literacy, for Sterlite Foundation, Mumbai.

Currently working on

  1. Assessment of Vulnerability and Adaptation to Climate Change among the most vulnerable coastal zones of India, part of the India’s second National Communication [NATCOM] to the UNFCCC.
  2. Economics of Small Businesses in Developing Countries, National Entrepreneurship Network.
  3. Start-up Dynamics of IIT Bombay Incubating Companies, National Entrepreneurship Network.
  4. Trade, Industry and Anti-Dumping: A Comparative Study of India, US and the EU, for UNCTAD, New Delhi.
  5. Globalisation, ICT and Industrial Restructuring in India, with financial support from IIT Bombay.
  6. Spatial pattern of Industrial Growth in India [jointly with Dr. Partha Mukhopadhyaya, Centre for Policy Research, New Delhi].
  7. Socio-Economic Empowerment through Computer Literacy, under the Cell for Human Values, IIT Bombay, a project in operation since 2003.
  8. Technologies for Sustainable Development in Rahata Block, Ahmed Nagar District, Maharashtra, project sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India [funds awaited].
