Part I: This course would be devoted toi) understanding the debates around ephemerality and the archive andii) how in the context of these debates the archive is employed in theatre historiographyA part of the course will be devoted to examples and techniques that have been developed inemploying history or the archive in performance making.
Part II:The course will be also enable a detailed understanding of methods of documentation andarchiving processes/techniques that are implemented in documenting theatre and/orperformance, so that students are aware of the various mechanisms of documentationfollowed in archives of the performing arts and the role they play in the study of theatreand/or performance. This section will require students to actively participate in internshipsat theatre and performance archives.Practicum:
The course will require students to do an internship in a theatre archive such asNCPA library, Natyashodh, Maharashtra Cultural Centre, Ashok Da Ranade Archives, Archivesand research centre for ethnomusicology etc.
