This course introduces students to the idea of performance and its pedagogic practices. The course equips students with critical skills to understand performance, aesthetics and virtuosity and will familiarize students with the performed practice and theories of theatre, dance and other related art forms and also borrow conceptually from the field to understand other social and ritualistic phenomena. Understanding these concepts will help students to focus on the nuances of performance and other related dynamic processes discussed within, helping the student to develop critical engagement and understanding of the world of Performance Studies. It will include viewing various performances in person, artist talks and workshops discussing its practice, history and the performers unfolding investigations, thoughtful conversations and diverse engagements and perspectives.
