Abstract:
Is language the vehicle of thought? Is it different or non-different from thought? In the case of the former, its structural difference from thought cannot be avoided. If it is non-different from thought, then the question—how a tool can cook—arises. The means, at the same time, cannot be the end. The main concern is focused on the issue: is language confined to material garbs, that is, verbal articulations and written marks, gestures, signs, and symbols? Is the language not a concept? Indian grammarians do not limit language only to garbs; they perceive it as a concept that flashes when there is an incentive to speak in the speaker and manifests through hearing garbs in the listeners.
