Event Name: Brain Awareness Week

Psychology Laboratory of IIT, Bombay, in association with International Brain  Research Organization (IBRO), is hosting ‘Brain Awareness Week’ from March  10-15, 2008. We will be hosting ‘Brain Awareness Week’ which is an international  effort organized by the Dana Alliance for Brain Initiatives to advance public  awareness about the progress and benefits of brain research. We are pleased to  announce a fascinating week of activities such as poster presentations, movies,  talks and quiz. For six days we will be uncovering mysteries of the Human Brain.  The aim of this initiative is to spread awareness about brain, its functions and  malfunctions. 

The Dana Foundation:
The Dana Foundation is a private philanthropic foundation with principal interests  in brain science, immunology, and arts education. Charles A. Dana, a New York  State legislator, industrialist, and philanthropist founded what is today the Dana  Corporation.  Aim of Dana foundation is to desimenate credible knowledge about brain and  brain research. The Dana Alliance for Brain Initiative (DABI) and the European  Alliance for the Brain (EDAB) are non-profit organizations of eminent brain  scientists and neuroscientists including Nobel Laureates advancing public  awareness about brain and brain research  International Brain Research Organization (IBRO)  IBRO is an independent, international organization dedicated to the promotion of  neuroscience and of communication between brain researchers in all countries of  the world. In its new role as a World Federation IBRO is at present representing  the interests of about 51,000 neuroscientists in 111 countries.  The objectives of IBRO are to promote scientific research in all fields concerning  the brain through international collaboration and interchange of scientific  information on brain research throughout the world and to assist in education  and the dissemination of information relating to brain research.  ‘Brain Awareness Week’ at Psychological Laboratory, Department of  HSS, IITB

Psychological Laboratory at Department of Humanities & Social Sciences has  been actively pursuing interdisciplinary research interests ranging from  theoretical explorations in Cognitive Sciences to Applied Psychological research  used in Industrial set up. Research focus of the laboratory lies in understanding  higher cognitive functions of the brain.
