Abstract:

‘’Koffee with Karan: a prime-time Bollywood chat show, is a pivotal platform where film actors, sports stars and media celebrities present themselves to a global South Asian audience. Blending light entertainment, gossip, scandal, and self-promotion, it reflects a unique Bollywood media ecology, intertwining talk, images, style, and performance. In this talk, part of his forthcoming book “E-Bollywood: Popular Hindi Cinema in the Ages of New Media”, Prof. Rajinder Dudrah examines how the show operates textually and discursively, exploring what kind of E-Bollywood it represents in the new media era.
