The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, IIT Bombay welcomes you to a panel discussion and literary session on Wednesday
18th April at 5.00 PM in memory of the late Prof.Gangadhar Pantawane who passed away recently. Venue is LC 001 in the Lecture Complex (Ground Floor) 

Prof.Pantawane served as a Professor and Ambedkar Chair at Dr.Ambedkar Marathwada University, is a Padmashri awardee, and was a well known scholar of Marathi literature. He was also a poet, author, biographer, and founder-editor of the well-known Marathi literary journal Asmitadarsh from 1968 till his death. This journal provided a platform and nurtured hundreds of Marathi writers on diverse social and intellectual issues. Prof.Pantawane also served on the boards of several educational institutions, especially promoting education among girls and women from under-privileged communities. He was a patron of theatre and music. His contribution to the efflorescence of dalit literature from the mid-1960s is especially well recognized.

We will have four speakers who will talk about Prof.Pantawane´s life and legacy, and recite some of his poems. These are:
1. Prof.Sudham Rathod from Department of Marathi, ACS College Nashik, and also a Marathi writer
2. Mr.Kailash Waghmare, Actor in Marathi and English plays and cinema
3. Ms. Meenakshi Rathod, Actor in Marathi, English and Hindi plays and cinema
4. Ms.Shilpa Kamble, Income Tax Officer and author of novels and plays in Marathi
