Abstract:
The American philosopher Richard Rorty (1931-2007) became world-famous after the publication of his controversial book Philosophy and the Mirror of Nature (1979), which sought to redefine philosophy as a calling. Prof. Romano was Rorty's research assistant at Princeton University as Rorty wrote that book. In his talk, Prof. Romano will present an overview of Rorty, his work, and his impact on the world of Western philosophy.
