Three Formulations of Autonomy: Kant, Sade and Nietzsche

About the Book:
The inviolability of the individual in the present age rests largely upon the firm belief that every individual is autonomous and, therefore, free. Autonomy thus grounds our claim for freedom. The book presents the three broad trends of constructing autonomy amidst the landscape of Western thought through the philosophical frameworks of Kant, Sade, and Nietzsche. In doing so, it explores the distinct meanings of human freedom that ensue from them.
