Abstract:
Using two instances (a photographic and a documentary film), this paper attempts to pose questions about visual subjectivity from the perspectives of labour, caste and gender. It is an attempt also to think about the historical moments at which certain labouring bodies, and the kinds of labour they perform, become visible, and the implications of such contingent visibility.
