In October 2014, Prof.G.Haripriya was elected President of the International Urban Biodiversity and Design (URBIO) network for a period of 4 years. 

   She has taken over this charge from Prof.Norbert Muller of the University of Applied Sciences Erfurt, Germany. Founded in 2008, URBIO is an open world-wide scientific network for education and research formed a a result of the scientific intiative of the CBD (Convention on Biodiversity, Montreal) under the Major Group "Local Authorities". The network has its headquarters in Erfurt, Germany.
