The theme of the conference:

Immanuel Kant (1724-1805), a philosopher whose influence rivals that of Plato and Aristotle, initiated a Copernican Revolution in Philosophy, transforming our understanding of knowledge, ethics, and metaphysics. Through his seminal works—The Critique of Pure Reason (1781/1789), The Critique of Practical Reason (1788), and The Groundwork of the Metaphysics of Morals (1785)—Kant transcended traditional philosophical boundaries, establishing a framework that continues to impact contemporary thought on agency, mind, and value. This conference celebrates 300 years of his enduring legacy, exploring how his ideas remain central to modern philosophical debates. Kant's insights into how we know, how we act (agency and morality), and how we assign meaning and value remain central to contemporary debates. We will explore these three interconnected themes: agency, which is grounded in Kant's theory of human autonomy and moral responsibility; mind, where Kant's epistemology, including moral knowledge, offers a framework for understanding the nature of human cognition and intentionality; and value, which emerges from his moral philosophy. By grounding the conference in these themes, we aim to revisit Kant's enduring contributions. Each session will build on these core concepts, offering fresh perspectives on how Kant's thought continues to shape our understanding of moral experience, autonomy, cognition, and moral worth.
